Setting Goals For This Year
A brand new year has started, and we all have resolutions promised to ourselves. I find that people who set new goals along with the start of the year are doomed to fail for the very reason that you are setting goals with heightened emotions. It’s the new year, everybody is happy and you might even be drunk while you promised yourself at least ten things that you want to change or achieve. After a couple of weeks or at the end of the month, you notice that nothing is really happening—you go back to your old ways and your goals become buried deep in your subconscious.
Rather, treat the new year as a regular day. You see, I don’t set any goals nor do I promise myself anything. If I do want to achieve something, I normally formulate it in the middle of the year or even before Christmas starts. Setting goals in the spring time or in the summer is the perfect time for such an endeavor, although, this doesn’t work for everybody. In my opinion, it depends on where you live. Here in Miami, summer is “slow season” because of the awful temperature. The tendency is that people feel lazy and uninspired because the heat is wearing them down a lot—slower brain function. I take advantage to start setting goals for traveling in October and assess what my December will look like—there’s something to look forward to.
My number one goal right now is to save money to start buying my first property. I want to spare myself from foolish and impulsive expenses and just save money so I can set myself to success. I honestly don’t buy a lot of material things, only the necessities, as I don’t find any pleasure in possessions. Although when it comes to dining out and losing in the stock market, these are my biggest hurdles that set me back. If I haven’t gambled my money in the stock market trying to be an instant millionaire, then I would have bought my first property already a long time ago. Well, we learn from our mistakes and I am still hopeful that with proper education, I will be a profitable options trader in the near future and recoup all my previous losses.
I want to do good at my new job and make a name for myself. Hopefully by the middle of the year, we would have attracted more clients who frequent the restaurant and start making serious money. If Michelin inspectors are looking for the next best restaurant or a new spot on the rise, then I hope we would be one of them. Also, I’m hopeful that I will find an investor soon—somebody who will support me and help me succeed in life. Big visions, big dreams, I don’t know the possibilities of manifesting something but I’ve done my best all the time. I just want to be secured in life and live in abundance.
Traveling to the Basque Country and Bordeaux will also be in this year’s itinerary. I will be traveling with three fine gentlemen as we set course to visit vineyards in Bordeaux, go pintxos hopping in Spain and eat at Michelin restaurants wherever we find one.
Writing will still be part of my 2023. I’ve had my website up for six or seven months now, and quite honestly, it’s one of the best investments that I’ve ever had. I can communicate through my website in the form of writing. Writing is very rewarding, it helps me alleviate stress and allows me to be productive during moments where I choose to do something rather than watch TV.
Folks, as we start this 2023, may all your wishes or most of them become reality by manifesting that you will achieve them. We all need to move and do something towards our goals. Wishful thinking will not get you anywhere. More importantly, and like what my mom always used to tell me, “As long as you are not hurting anyone, do what you got to do.”
